The Temple of Hephaestos was built in the north west side of Athens, Greece during 449 BC. It sits on a hill and overlooks the Agora of Athens. It was the first temple in Athens that was built out of marble. It is believed that the temple was built as a hero shrine dedicated to Theseus. The Temple of Hepheastos was built in a Doric style and consisted of many different columns and pillars.
The Parthenon
The Parthenon is a temple located in Athens, Greece that was dedicated to the goddess Athena. Construction began in 447 BC and ended in 438 BC. The Parthenon was built out of ivory and gold to show the dominant power of Athens. It was built in a classical style and contained many pillars and columns. The Parthenon is one of the most important surviving temples from ancient Greece because it was built during the high point of Greek art.
Temple of Athena Nike
The Temple of Athena Nike is located on the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. It was built around 420 BC and is the earliest ionic temple on the Acropolis. The temple was built because Nike means victory in Greek and the citizens hoped for a prosperous outcome to the Peloponnesian War. It was made out of Pentellic marble and was built in a classical style. It was very small and was eventually destroyed by the Persians.
